BB&A provided design-build engineering services for the Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-80) roadway and bridge design/build reconstruction project.
Originally opened in 1958, the current roadway now carries two lanes of traffic in each direction. With the project's completion, the roadway will carry four lanes of westbound traffic and the new bridge will carry four lanes of eastbound traffic.
BB&A's work on this project included the design of the following structures:
- Cast-in-place concrete retaining walls
- Two service buildings
- Box culverts under I-80 and I-294
- A four-span continuous curved-plate girder structure over I-80 and I-294
- A two-span (190 ft. and 150 ft.) continuous curved plate girder structure carrying I-80 westbound traffic over I-294
Engineering services provided include the preparation of plans, shop drawing review, response to contractor's requests for information, and disposition of peer review comments.
