Company Culture

The culture at Bowman, Barrett & Associates Inc. (BB&A) is based on teamwork, open communications and producing a quality product for our client. Each professional on our team has unique work experience which makes each employee a very valued member of the firm.

Introducing our staff…

Bradley McMullen, PE
Civil Engineer

Mr. McMullen joined BB&A as a Civil Engineer in 2002 after spending two years at Applied Pavement Technology, Inc. His experience prior to BB&A included construction inspection, pavement design, pavement condition inspection and pavement management. He received his MSCE degree in 2000 and his BSCE degree in 1998 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Mr. McMullen presented the results of his graduate research at the Transportation Research Board's 80th Annual Meeting in Washington D.C. in January 2001.

Mr. McMullen's current duties include design work on the O'Hare Modernization Program; this consists of various roadway and aviation facility designs, mass earthwork grading plans and airfield wide drainage projects.

He became a licensed professional engineer in the State of Illinois in 2004. In his spare time, Mr. McMullen does volunteer work at the Hyde Park Art Center and the World Computer Exchange.

Joseph Abruzzo, PE, SE
Senior Project Manager

Mr. Abruzzo started working at BB&A as an intern, while he was finishing his master’s thesis at the University of Illinois. He received his BSCE in 1992 and his MSCE in 1993 from the University of Illinois. He started full time in January 1993 for our Railroad Design Group. His work includes design, inspection, evaluation and structural analysis of railroad and bridge projects.

Mr. Abruzzo has found that working at BB&A has provided job experience far beyond sitting behind a desk performing calculations. “There are few things as gratifying as seeing your two-dimensional design take three-dimensional form in steel and concrete, and finally watching that design bear the weight of a railroad train,” remarked Mr. Abruzzo.

Jackeline Aviñó-Miranda, EI
Civil Engineer

Ms. Aviñó-Miranda earned her BSCE from the University of Puerto Rico in 1999. Her undergraduate work experience included working as a project coordinator for the reconstruction of damages caused by Hurricane George in Utuado, Puerto Rico; research assistant conducting a study for the United States House of Representatives on the United States-Mexico border infrastructure and a research assistant conducting a study dealing with fuel consumption savings at U-turn ramps on diamond interchanges for the University of Texas at Austin.

Ms. Aviñó-Miranda joined BB&A as a Civil Engineer. While at BB&A she has had the opportunity to work on various projects including drainage studies for the O’Hare Modernization Program for BPC Partners, drainage work for the I-90/94 Dan Ryan Expressway reconstruction and utility design for the Palatine Road reconstruction project.
