BB&A was retained to provide construction oversight for the improvements involved in the interconnection of the CN Railway (CN) and EJ&E tracks in the villages of Matteson and Park Forest, Illinois. The east/west EJ&E tracks were grade separated from the north/south CN tracks (which Amtrak also uses), and the new interconnection allows CN trains to bypass congestion in Chicago.

The improvements directly effected commuter access and parking for the Matteson/Park Forest Metra Station. Construction was phased to maximize commuter safety while maintaining 24/7 access to the station.

Other elements of the project included the rehabilitation of the Front Street structure ans substructure, new retaining walls and embankment, new track curves and switches, and a new bridge over the reconfigured pedestrian access route to the station.
