Firm Announces New Vice Chairman
Chicago, IL – October 3, 2003 - Bowman,
Barrett & Associates Inc. (BB&A) announces the promotion
of John Barrett, PE, SE, from the position of President to Vice
Chairman. As the co-founder (along with Louis
Bowman) of BB&A,
Barrett has over 50 years of experience in the industry and has
earned accolades for his innovative and effective approach to
railroad bridge design projects.
Barrett is an active member of the University of Illinois Alumni
Association and was instrumental in establishing the Bowman,
Barrett & Associates Outstanding Scholar Award, presented
each year to an exceptional engineering student in either a transportation
or structures discipline. He is a licensed structural engineer
in Illinois and a registered professional engineer in 16 states,
including Illinois. Barrett serves in leadership roles on many
association committees including the American Railway Engineering
and Maintenance of Way Association, American Society of Civil
Engineers and the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois.
