Bowman, Barrett & Associates Inc. (BB&A) provided construction management services for the following projects at Midway Airport in Chicago, Illinois.


Midway Long Term Parking Expansion

Completed:
1994
Cost: $4.9 Million
Services included:

  • Monitoring field engineers and inspectors
  • Coordinating the contractor's day to day activities including
    • Underground tank removal
    • Pavement removal
    • Excavation and embankment
    • Plant mix bituminous
    • Portland cement concrete pavement
    • Structural Portland cement concrete
    • Plaza installation and office relocation


General Aviation Parking Apron

Completed: 1995
Cost: $1.7 Million
The scope of work included:

  • Paving
  • Excavation
  • Sewer
  • Drainage
  • Electrical

The day to day activities included:

  • Removal of existing underground utilities
  • Aircraft mooring eyes
  • Fueling ground rods
  • Concrete bumper blocks
  • Pavement removal
  • Excavation and embankment
  • Plant mix bituminous pavements
  • Structural Portland cement concrete
  • Concrete curb and gutter
  • Taxiway edge light units
  • Taxiway edge reflectors


Runway 13L-31R Repairs and Rehabilitation

Completed: 1997
Cost: $5 Million
The scope of services included:

  • Excavation
  • Pavement removal
  • Frost protection
  • Bituminous base and surface courses
  • Portland cement concrete
  • Pavement repair
  • Vitrified clay pipe and reinforced concrete pipe
  • Installation of manholes, catch basins
  • Inspection of holes
  • Adjustment of catch basins and manholes
  • Light bases with taxiway and runway lights
  • Adjustment of electrical hand holes
  • Electrical work
  • Pavement markings and site demolition


Midway Airport Maintenance Complex

Completed: 1997
Cost: $10 Million
The elements of the project included:

  • Construction of a new vehicle maintenance building
  • Removal of underground storage tanks
  • Related piping and accessories
  • Excavation and removal of unstable soils
  • Furnish, place and compact any backfill required and construction of a service road and parking apron
