Challenge
IDOT retained Bowman, Barrett & Associates Inc. (BB&A)
to provide Construction Engineering services (Phase III) for the
I-80 rehabilitation in Grundy County, east of Morris. This was
a three-year project to rehabilitate the east and westbound lanes,
crossovers and median. I-80 is an Interstate Highway in a semi-rural
area that is rapidly developing.
Details
BB&A provided a site representative, who provided the following
services:
- Work with the contractor’s project
manager
- Review shop
drawings
- Provide general inspection of the contractor’s
work
- Submit daily weekly and monthly progress reports
- Process contractor’s
pay requests, including verification of the completeness of
billed work
- Order testing of materials from a material laboratory,
report results to the project manager
- Coordinate contractor’s
activity with utility companies
